How the Chipotle nutrition calculator works
This free calculator adds up the calories, protein, carbs, and fat in your Chipotle order as you build it. Choose a bowl, burrito, salad, tacos, or quesadilla, then add rice, beans, protein, toppings, salsa, and extras. Each item has its nutrition listed per standard portion, and you can add half a portion, one, or up to two. The totals update right away, with the share of your day, a macro split, and an item-by-item table. It is independent and is not affiliated with Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc.
How to use the calculator
- Pick what you are ordering. A burrito, salad, tacos, or quesadilla adds its tortilla or lettuce base for you. A bowl adds nothing.
- Add your ingredients. Press + beside each item. Press + twice for a double portion and − to take some off. Each press moves by half a portion.
- Or start from an example. Pick a high-protein, low-calorie, balanced, lower-carb, or bulking order and adjust it.
- Set a daily calorie goal (optional). It is used to show what share of your day the meal is.
- Read your totals. You get calories, protein, carbs, and fat, plus a table of every item. Press Copy to save the summary.

These orders were worked out by the calculator with standard portions.

What adds the most calories
A few items account for most of the calories in a typical order. These are the highest in this calculator.
| Ingredient | Calories | Fat (g) | Carbs (g) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chips | 540 | 25 | 73 |
| Extra tortilla | 320 | 9 | 50 |
| Guacamole | 230 | 22 | 8 |
| Honey vinaigrette | 220 | 16 | 18 |
| Cilantro-lime white rice | 210 | 4 | 40 |
| Cilantro-lime brown rice | 210 | 6 | 36 |
| Carnitas | 210 | 12 | 0 |
| Chicken | 180 | 7 | 0 |
A flour tortilla adds 320 calories, which is why a burrito has far more calories than the same ingredients in a bowl. Among the salsas, the lowest is tomatillo-green chili salsa at 15 calories, and the highest isred chimichurri at 80.
Comparing the proteins
| Protein | Calories | Protein (g) | Protein per 100 calories (g) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 180 | 32 | 17.8 |
| Barbacoa | 170 | 24 | 14.1 |
| Steak | 150 | 21 | 14.0 |
| Carnitas | 210 | 23 | 11.0 |
| Sofritas | 150 | 8 | 5.3 |
Limited-time proteins are in the calculator too, but they are left out of this table because they may not be on the menu.
Tips for your goal
- Lower calories
- Choose a salad or a bowl with no tortilla, a lean protein, beans, fajita veggies, and fresh tomato salsa. Skip chips, queso, guacamole, and vinaigrette, or share them.
- More protein
- Pick chicken, steak, or barbacoa, add beans, and consider the double protein add-on. Cheese adds a little more.
- Fewer carbs
- Skip the tortilla, rice, and beans, and build a bowl around protein, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce. Salsas and chips add carbs quickly.
- Plant-based
- Sofritas, beans, rice, fajita veggies, and salsas are the plant-based building blocks. Check Chipotle for current vegan options, because this calculator does not filter by diet.
Understanding calories and macros
Protein and carbohydrates provide about 4 calories per gram, and fat provides about 9. That is why a small amount of guacamole or sour cream, which is mostly fat, adds more calories than the same weight of rice or beans. The macro split bar shows how your meal’s calories divide between protein, carbs, and fat. A 2,000-calorie day is a common reference value on US nutrition labels, but your own needs depend on your size, age, and activity.
What this calculator can and cannot do
- It totals calories, protein, carbs, and fat. It does not total sodium, fiber, or sugar, because those values are not available for every ingredient.
- It uses standard portions. A server’s scoop can be larger or smaller, and half portions are simple halves.
- It does not include drinks, kids’ meals, or desserts.
- Nutrition information changes over time. Check chipotle.com for current values.
- It does not show allergens, so do not use it to manage a food allergy.

Frequently asked questions
How many calories are in a Chipotle bowl?
It depends on what you choose. A bowl with white rice, chicken, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, and cheese comes to about 675 calories on this calculator, with 51 g of protein, 72 g of carbs, and 20 g of fat. Guacamole, queso, sour cream, and chips can add several hundred more.
How many calories does a burrito have compared with a bowl?
The tortilla is the difference. A flour tortilla adds 320 calories, so the same ingredients as the bowl above come to about 995 calories as a burrito, against 675 in a bowl.
What is the lowest-calorie way to order?
A salad or a bowl without a tortilla, with a lean protein, beans, fajita veggies, and fresh tomato salsa keeps calories down. The low-calorie salad example (chicken, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, and romaine) is about 380 calories with 43 g of protein. Skipping chips, queso, guacamole, and vinaigrette saves the most.
Which Chipotle protein has the most protein?
Of the standard proteins in this calculator, chicken has the most, at 32 g per portion for 180 calories. Barbacoa has 24 g for 170 calories, and steak has 21 g for 150 calories. Sofritas, the plant-based option, has 8 g for 150 calories.
How do I order a high-protein meal?
Start with a bowl, choose chicken, and add beans and fajita veggies. The high-protein bowl example (chicken, black beans, fajita veggies, and cheese) has 47 g of protein in about 440 calories. A double protein add-on adds another 24 g for 170 calories.
How many calories do chips and guacamole add?
An order of chips is 540 calories and a portion of guacamole is 230 calories, so the two together add 770 calories to a meal before you count anything else.
How are half and double portions counted?
Each ingredient has a stepper from 0 to 2 portions in steps of one half. A portion is the standard serving in the published data. Half portions are simple halves of that serving, so treat them as estimates, because the actual scoop on your order may differ.
Does the calculator include sodium, fiber, and sugar?
No. It totals calories, protein, carbs, and fat. The numbers it uses do not include sodium, fiber, or sugar for every ingredient, so it does not show a total for them. Check chipotle.com if you need those values.
Is this the official Chipotle nutrition calculator?
No. This calculator is independent and is not affiliated with Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. It uses published nutrition information for standard portions, which can change, so confirm the current numbers on chipotle.com.
What does "limited time" mean next to some proteins?
Some proteins, such as smoked brisket and honey chicken, were offered for a limited time and may not be on the menu now. They are listed with their published values so you can still work out past or returning orders.
Can I use it to manage a food allergy?
No. This tool only adds up calories and macros. It does not show allergens or cross-contact. Use Chipotle’s own allergen information and ask the restaurant if you have an allergy.
How much of my day is a 1,460-calorie burrito?
Against a 2,000-calorie reference day, the bulking burrito example is about 73% of the day. Enter your own daily calorie goal in the calculator to see the share for your needs.
